The Shuttle Landing Experience (SLE) encourages those interested in replicating the thrill of shuttle landings to sign up for its mailing list. Each month, one person who signs up will be selected to receive a gift certificate from SLE, which is good for one free Level 1 flight with a guest of his or her choosing.

A Level 1 flight takes its “crew” 2,500 feet over various space sites in the Merritt Island/Port Canaveral area, including Kennedy Space Center. Guests can view launch pads of Cape Canaveral, the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), and various historic Cape sights from high in the air. The trip concludes with an approach of only 100 feet over the Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF), a historic piece of space infrastructure that supported space shuttle landings from STS-41B in 1984 until the program’s end in 2011. As the SLE’s website says, “The Shuttle is gone, but the dream lives on.”

Level 1 flights start as low as $49 (minimum two people) when trips are booked online. Gift certificates are available in the SLE’s online store if you know someone who loves space history and flying. For more information, visit the SLE’s website or call (321) 604-5008.
