Space Shuttle Pioneers: Col. Gordon Fullerton passed away yesterday. He can be seen in the back row, third from the left. Chosen in the seventh group of NASA astronauts, Fullerton was a member of that elite group of eight pilots who were entrusted to fly the space shuttle on its initial four test flights. Fullerton and astronaut Jack Lousma flew Shuttle Columbia on her third mission in March 1982. Fullerton went on to command shuttle mission STS-51F in 1985. A great pilot and a better human being.
