Due to weather and more welding that was required the move of a high-fidelity model of the space shuttle, dubbed “Explorer” to Port Canaveral has been postponed until later this week. Brevard-based Beyel Crane & Rigging is responsible for loading the full-scale model onto the barge and transporting the shuttle down the inter-costal waterway into Port Canaveral.

When the model arrives at the port, Kirby Marine Towing will take the barge around the Florida Keys and up the Gulf of Mexico to Houston, Texas. Once the barge and shuttle reach the Houston Ship Canal Beyel will once again take over the operation – moving the model up the canal and unloading her. Beyel is sending a crew and four tractor trailers full of equipment from Brevard County to finish the operation.
