Atlantis Photo Feature Part Five: Matt Gaetjens

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla – Matt Gaetjens is one of AmericaSpace’s reserve photographers. He is a man whose “vision” allows him to cut to the heart of the subject matter that he photographs. History is strange thing, you usually don’t know when it is occurring and frequently miss those moments when they pass by. In the case of space shuttle Atlantis’ transfer to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Gaetjens had time to prepare, to be ready – and the affect was stunning.

Gaetjens worked at Kennedy Space Center for a number of years and knows just what to shoot to highlight the amazing aspects of the program that powered astronauts to orbit for thirty years.
