Waiting on a New Star: Crowds begin to form in the lead up to the launch of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. ASTP was launched on this date in 1975 aboard a Saturn 1B rocket from Pad 39B—the final flight in the Apollo series.
