NASA has exercised the first option on a contract which provides integrated services to prepare and launch the next generation of scientific and exploration missions. The two-year Option Period 1 on the Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support (ELVIS)-2 contract, operated by i.a. solutions, Inc., of Lanham, Md., begins 1 October and is valued at $56.5 million. The contract carries another potential option period to begin in October 2015, if it is exercised.

The ELVIS-2 contract began last April and has a maximum value of $138.1 million. It supports NASA’s Launch Services Program and its sponsored missions, together with activities and strategic initiatives for multiple space agency, Department of Defense, and government organizations. The contractor will support program management, vehicle engineering and analysis, launch site engineering, communications and telemetry, technical integration services, safety, reliability and quality assurance, and others. Although based at the Kennedy Space Center, Fla., the ELVIS-2 contract also involves work at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., and other government launch sites.
