On Thursday, March 24, 2010 Senator George LeMieux of Florida filed Senate Bill 3180, Constellation Preservation Act along with 6 co-sponsors. The Constellation Preservation Act would do four things,
- Reiterates the legal prohibition in already in place prohibiting the cancellation of Constellation Systems Program contracts.
- Waives Anti-Deficiency Act provisions being used as justification by NASA for announcing changes and cancellations of certain programs associated with the Constellation Systems Program.
- Requires the Comptroller General to conduct an investigation into the current contracts to evaluate any waste, fraud and abuse in any of the existing contracts.
- Requires the Administration to take necessary steps to ensure the successful launch of all remaining Shuttle flights.
