Obama Space Plan – Another Day, Another Critic

Yes, another day, another critic of the Obama Space plan. But this time, it’s not just any critic. No, today’s critic is Air Force General (ret.) Lester Lyles, who also happens to be a former member of the Augustine Committee.

In a letter to Representative Frank Wolf, Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Science Subcommittee, General Lyles criticizes the Obama Administration’s plans to de-emphasize the human space flight program in favor of one led by robotics. It’s a good read and we have a copy of the letter to Rep. Wolf, as signed by General Lyles, Raymond Calladay and Len Fisk.

  1. The biggest problem we face today is that space activities have grown very expensive due to the technologies that go into them. However, the funds have not grown with the costs. NASA needs to be funded rightfully so in order to do all the things NASA should be/needs to do. I believe this is what Mr. Lyles is getting at.
