As reported by Lee Roop of The Huntsville Times, according to NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center, the football sized NanoSail-D failed to deploy from its carrier satellite. This is a real tragedy since NanoSat-D would have been a trail-blazer in testing solar sails as a means of propulsion.
