I remember this well. It was a Saturday morning. I was up early driving north from Dallas to McKinney, Texas to a Coin Show along Hwy 75. I was on the road when the disaster occurred overhead. A bit later that morning I learned of the news. I traveled then to East Texas to my college town of Nacogdoches. While in downtown, I came across a large piece of debris that had been roped off right in the middle/heart of downtown. It was eerie. As a college student, I had radio telemetry tracked white-tailed deer, gathering triangulation coordinates to plot Home Range. That was in the early 1980s. 20+ years later, my professor was called upon by NASA to assist in the GPS plotting of the debris field from the fallen Space Shuttle.
