Launch scheduled for 10 Sep 23 at 12:47 GMT Local time 10 Sep 23 at 8:47am Eastern An Atlas V rocket will launch from Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral space Force Station carrying SILENTBARKER/NROL-107 into space. The Atlas V will fly in the 551 configuration, the most powerful Atlas V rocket in production. This has a common core booster, a 5 metre payload fairing, 5 strap-on solid rocket boosters and a single Centaur upper stage. The SILENTBARKER/NROL-107 payload is a joint NRO and Space Force Space Domain Awareness (SDA) mission. This the capability to search, detect and track objects from a space-based sensor for timely custody and event detection. Surveillance from space augments and overcomes existing ground sensor limitations with timely 24-hour above-the-weather collection of satellite metric data only possible with a space-based sensor and then communicates its findings to satellite operators, analysts, and other mission users. |
Don’t know if anyone will get to this in time…We’re driving up from Port Canaveral to watch the launch, can we watch this from the Nasa Causeway?
