A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the NASA DART asteroid redirection spacecraft from Vandenberg SFB in California. This will be the first interplanetary mission for the Falcon 9 and SpaceX.

DART is the first mission to test technologies for preventing an impact of Earth by a hazardous asteroid. DART's target asteroid is not a threat to Earth. NASA's Launch Services Program , based at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, America's multi-user spaceport, is managing the launch.
