Local time 17 May 21 at 1:35pm Eastern

A United Launch Alliance will launch an Atlas V rocket from LC-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base carrying the SBRIS GEO-5 satellite into orbit.

The Atlas V will fly in the 421 configuration consisting: a common core; two strap on solid rocket boosters; a single Centaur upper stage and a 4 metre payload fairing.

The payload, Space Based Infrared System Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (SBIRS GEO-5), is a missile warning satellite commissioned for the U.S. Space Force's Space and Missiles Systems Center.

SBIRS consists of a network of satellites to support missile warning, missile defense, battlespace awareness and technical intelligence. Equipped with scanning and staring infrared sensors, the spacecraft continue to serve as the tip of the spear for global missile warning as ballistic missile threats proliferate around the world.
