The Huntsville Times is carrying the story, U.S. Space & Rocket Center CEO Larry Capps Announces Retirement. From the article, it is clear that the U.S. Space & Rocket Center had a near-death experience 10 years ago and was pulled from the brink by General Capps.

Jim’s Note: While growing up in Alabama, I must have pestered my father into making the drive up to Huntsville 5 or 6 times…maybe more. I can unequivocally state that my interest in space exploration was fueled directly by the hands-on nature of the Rocket Center. And just as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center inspired the youth of the early 70’s, I’m sure it will do the same for many generations to come. I wish the General a great retirement–he’s earned it. And Huntsville rocks!
