Local time 20 Dec 19 at 6:36am Eastern

United Launch Alliance will launch a special configuration of the Atlas V rocket carrying the Boeing Starliner Commercial Crew spacecraft to the International Space Station.

This will be an unmanned test flight providing valuable data on the end-to-end performance of the Atlas V rocket, Starliner spacecraft, and ground systems, as well as in-orbit, docking, and landing operations. The data will be used as part of NASA’s process of certifying Boeing’s crew transportation system for carrying astronauts to and from the space station.

The Atlas V will fly with a single core booster assisted by twin strap-on solid rocket boosters. The second stage will be a dual engine Centaur which will be topped with a Launch Vehicle Adapter which will be mated to the Boeing CST-100 spacecraft.
